Celestial Crush

Celestial Crush is a series of mixed-media works in which large-scale cyanotypes are blended and combined with spray paint. The works are intended to explore metaphysical questions, the encounter and collision between the Earth and the Cosmos, the paradox of the body as fragile and resilient, and the yearning for surrender.The body parts revealed through the cyanotype technique (where the paper is carefully soaked and repeatedly washed to fully remove the emulsion) represent elusive fragments of the body that become almost like mechanisms, research tools, or imprints—both human and non-human. These imprints reflect and transform into portals that allow the movement of a body through space and time.
The paper is crumpled following a physical performance that embraces and compresses it almost to the point of breaking. The paint used is the kind employed in the automotive industry, and the colours—self-made mixed pigments, car paints, and pearlescent tones—contemplate and completely reinvent the materiality of the object. The paper transforms into a topographic surface, almost extraterrestrial, becoming a metallic sheet that crumples upon impact, against force, between haeven and heart.
