Chiaro di Luna - Moonlight

4K Video and multichannel sound installation

Chiaro di Luna is a video and multichannel sound installation that explores language and fragmented memory as a fragile attempt at human connection.
The installation was presented at "Emerging Exits", an immersive exhibition held at the Diogenes Bunker in Arnhem, where interdisciplinary artists were asked to explore the evolving relationship between humans, technology, and ecology.

In the installation, a large screen becomes a digital window where landscape imagery merges with text-based visual elements. At the centre of the work lies a mechanism in which nature unfolds like a vast, ever-processing machinery, tirelessly decoding the information embedded in human experience and vice versa. Beeps, signals, and mechanical echoes merge with birdsong, voices, and whispers, creating an intimate yet fractured resonance: an unfolding poem composed of multiple languages and unstable meanings. These sonic and visual fragments interconnect, forming a systemic network where nothing exists in isolation. In this continuous act of decoding, the natural and the human intertwine, suggesting that life operates on multiple levels, constantly rewritten, misread, remembered, and reconnected in the pursuit of meaning. The text that appears within the visuals is generated through a self-developed software. A coded sequence, seen as blinking squares at the beginning of the video, encrypts the text before gradually unfolding it in a non-linear and unpredictable manner. The work becomes an ongoing attempt to reorganise meaning and to imagine new languages as a way to connect more deeply with the surroundings. The spoken voice operates in a different language than the written text, emphasising the poetic, sonic, and at times disorienting experience of the installation, while reinforcing the instability of understanding and the multiplicity of interpretation.

Chiaro di Luna invites viewers into a contemplative and almost spiritual space, encouraging the audience to navigate their own associative paths, engaging with the work as a reconstructed landscape of personal and collective memory.
The film was shown at Art Rotterdam 2026 in the section Projections with andriesse-eyck galerie.
