Written in the Body

Rijksakademie Open Studios 2024

Above my head
that my heart is escaping
I will always find myself in a world
for which I have no understanding

“Written in the body” is an installation that traverses an imaginative landscape that stretches between the earth and the immense cosmos, the physical and the metaphysical space pondering the essence of land, body, consciousness and the concept of belonging within it.

How and why do physical processes give rise to experience? What if the notion of being conscious would be swollen into an expensive realm of poetical embodiment, freed from the confines of the physical realm and in constant perpetual of longing and desire?

In this paradoxical yet regenerative space I look for emerging stories where the boundaries between human and machine, resilience and vulnerability, poetry and programmed language blur, in a timeless connection whit existential quests.

In this body of work digital narratives, painterly gestures and generative words are combined with large works on paper in a poetical and sculptural continuum of fragmented identities.

In one space the video animation interacts with etched aluminium plates and programmed TFT mini monitors. The large works on paper combine photography, paint and drawings while self generative words on a PCBC plate become something left from a non human body.
